PIERCING CARE

 

EAR/NOSE/BROW PIERCING AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS

 To reduce the risk of infection, and aid in proper healing and to protect your investment, it is important to follow these directions until the tattoo is completely healed.

 DO Always wash your hands with antibacterial soap before caring for your new piercing. Gently wash/soak the site 3 times daily in a sterile saline or a non-iodized salt solution (do not use soap). Pat dry with paper toweling or air dry the piercing.

 Wear loose clothing (preferably cotton) or loosely cover the piercing with a bandage to avoid friction and rubbing.

 DO NOT Play with the piercing or jewelry or touch (except when cleaning) or allow others to do so. Use, alcohol, hydrogen peroxide or any astringents as they are to strong and will cause irritation and drying to the healing skin/piercing. Apply ointments, creams or lotions to the piercing site. These items will clog the piercing and prevent air from reaching it and can trap bacteria. Immerse the new piercing in a bath tub, hot tub or swimming pool. Remove or change the jewelry during the healing period.

 Signs of infection Some initial soreness, redness, swelling, or minor bleeding/fluid secretion is normal.

 Seek medical attention if signs of infection occur, such as:

·         Increased redness and or swelling

·         Increased soreness or pain

·         Continued bleeding, discharge or oozing fluid

·         Fever, heat or warmth at the site of the piercing

·         Red streaks originating from the new piercing

·         Swollen glands

 Approximate healing time:  Ear lobe 6-8 weeks/ Ear Cartilage 3-8 months/ Navel 3-10 months/                                                                                                                                                              Nose 5-16 weeks/ Brow 6-8 weeks

 NOTICE: You may donate blood, upon presentation of your client record to the blood donor facility, after the standard waiting period.

 


NAVEL AND NIPPLE PIERCING AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS

ORAL PIERCING AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS

 To reduce the risk of infection, and aid in proper healing and to protect your investment, it is important to follow these directions until the tattoo is completely healed.

 DO Always wash your hands with antibacterial soap before caring for your new piercing. Rinse your mouth after eating, drinking, or smoking and before bedtime. Use an alcohol-free mouthwash (or dilute regular mouthwash), packaged sterile saline, or a non-iodized sea salt solution. Soak you lip/labret piercings 3 times daily with a sterile saline or non-iodized salt solution and gently wash the outside of the mouth and face area with antibacterial soap. Air or pat dry using paper toweling, do not use a cloth towel. To reduce swelling of the tongue, suck on ice for the first 24-48 hours.

 DO NOT Play with the piercing or jewelry or touch (except when cleaning) or allow others to do so. Consume hot, spicy, salty, acidic foods and beverages; use tobacco; alcohol; and anything that could irritate the mouth for the first few days. Use mouth wash with alcohol, hydrogen peroxide or any astringents as they are to strong and will cause irritation and drying to the healing skin/piercing. Apply ointments, creams or lotions to the piercing site. These items will clog the piercing and prevent air from reaching it and can trap bacteria. Immerse the new piercing in a bath tub, hot tub or swimming pool. Engage in oral sex or intimate kissing for tongue and lip/mouth piercings. Remove or change the jewelry during the healing period.

·         Increased redness and or swelling

·         Increased soreness or pain

 For tongue piercing, one all swelling has subsided and the piercing is healed you may need to be re-fitted for a shorter bar.

 Approximate healing time: tongue 3-9 weeks,  lip/labret/monroe 2-9 weeks
