  Permanent body piercing performed at Wonderland Tattoo is done by creating an opening in the body using a sharp object through the area to be pierced. This can either be done by cutting an opening using a needle (usually a hollow medical needle) or scalpel by removing tissue, either with a scalpel or a dermal punch. We have years of combined experience that will make your piercing session comfortable and the piercing itself will be personally satisfying for years to come.

  Contemporary body piercing studios or shops, like ours, take numerous precautions to protect the health of the person being pierced and the piercer. Tools and jewelry are sterilized and surfaces are cleaned with sterilizing agents on a regular basis and between clients. Sterile, single use gloves are worn by each of our professionals to protect both you and the piercer. Commonly, a piercer will use multiple pairs of gloves per client, often one pair for each step of setup to avoid cross contamination. After a piercer has cleaned the area to be pierced on a client, the piercer may change gloves to avoid recontaminating the area with the gloves he/she used to clean it. You can rest assured that hygiene and your personal safety are #1 at Wonderland. It has been since 1989.

Body Piercing Care – General

 Now that you have your new piercing you need to care for it correctly. You will need to purchase some BACTINE to clean your piercing with. You will need to use the BACTINE three times a day for the first three weeks, then two times a day for the next two weeks, then as needed till your body piercing is healed. If you get an infection you should use some salt water or saline solution to clean and irrigate the piercing once a day for five days, as well as continue the use of the Bactine. If the infection continues, you should consult your doctor.

DO NOT use Alcohol, Bedadine, Hydrogen Peroxide, or any Antibiotic Ointment on you new piercing.
DO NOT tan or soak (no swimming, hot tubs, Jacuzzi’s, or bath tubs) for at least three weeks.
DO NOT play with your new piercing. The only time that you should touch your new piercing is during the cleaning process, and you should wash your hands before you touch the piercing.
DO NOT let your new piercing come in contact with any body fluids, either yours or someone else’s.
 

Body Piercing Care - Oral

 For all new oral piercing we recommend the use of Listerine oral mouthwash for two months. You should rinse after every time you eat, drink, or smoke. Just a cap full is fine. Also you should not eat or drink any dairy products for the first three weeks, to avoid a culture infection. NO kissing or oral sex for the first three weeks either.
At our body piercing studio, we also recommend the use of glyoxide to promote a well healed piercing. The glyoxide should be used according to the directions on the packaging.

Slurpies or ice will help keep the swelling to a minimum. If for some reason you should get an infection salt water or saline solution should be applied to the piercing once a day for five days, as well as the continued use of the Listerine and glyoxide. If the infection continues you should consult your doctor.
